T-56 questions

Hey everyone I am just having some trouble finding an answer to my question maybe you all can help me out.

I have searched!

I am in the process of getting all the parts I need for my t56 swap.

I am going to be putting the t56 in my 87 iroc that has the 700r4 in it now.

Can I use my 700r4 torque arm mount on my t56 ( lt1 style ) ? My t56 did not come with one? if not I believe this is what I need ( http://www.nookandtranny.com/mm5/mer...Category_Code=)

I still can no find a staight answer about what I have to do with the electronics?
so everything would work 100%

I know alot of people have used the dakota digital sgi5c box but what I have found out that it is only works if I have an electonic speedo. But since mine is 87 I have a mechanical speedo.

should I buy this ?

http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd886.htm

Thank you for the help tgo!

Re: T-56 questions

If it's the same as the T5, the torque arm mount is different than the 700R4. The difference is in how it mounts to the transmission. When I swapped from 700R4 to T5, I bought a used mount. I don't know if this is true for every case, but my torque arm faced in the opposite direction to the way the mount was shaped, so I had to buy new "rubber" for it.

Thanks for the heads up on that site.

I don't know much about T56, but that box looks like it should work.

Re: T-56 questions

You can not use the mount from the 700R4... You can reuse the bushing if I recall correctly, but the mount is different and won't fit. That held me up when I was doing my swap. I had to wait on a mount from a T-5.

Re: T-56 questions

For a cable-drive speedometer car, you can have member alloy here mod it so it has speedometer cable and vss functionality.

If you're going to run a cable anyway, that keeps all your options open.

Swap to a later model setup and need VSS signal? Use the VSS on the trans.; leave the cable in place.

Re: T-56 questions

I've thought about alloys mod. I just don't know if I want to do that incase I decide to swap go autometer gauges later on .
I am thinking the edc box is a decent route. And its the cheapest too...
