So i first of i dont know if this goes here or where ever but i just did a t56 swap in my 87 ta and i cant put it in reverse because of my center console is in the way so what should i do. Mod the 3rd gen one or get a 4th gen(even know i think they are hideous) thanks

 

I unbolted the shifter stick and put it on the other side. Problem solved.

Huh, that is weird. With the stock shifter, I was able to put the shifter stick on the other side without any issues, along with many others on the forum. Is your console installed correctly? Could be sitting back a bit and not in the forward grove part of the radio pod.

 

yea i didnt bolt it in so it could move when i put it in reverse but when it was in right it still hit

 

thats pretty wierd . what trans mount and x member are you using ? only thing i can think off is engine trans isnt centered, shifter is bent , or crenter console is offdef a head scratcher

some thing is off i think its the trans idk i didnt have this issue also

 

I bought my crossmember from spohn other that that everything else is eather stock or out of the 97 ta i got it out of

 

Also another question is i have digital dash in my car so i have an eletric speedo in my car and my speedo connecter dosnt fit in any on the trans so would i be able to splice in a 4th connecter into my speedo wire or would i have to buy a box

 

You need the Dakota Digital SGI-5 box as the PPM is different between the T56 and 3rd electronic speedos. So you need the box to do the conversions for you.

 

so i figured out (finally i know) that trans wasn't centered i did pay as close of attention as i should but it is center now and still rubs a little bit
