Shifter pulls to the right...
Hey guys, has anyone had any experience with this?
Just recently, in 1st and 2nd gear (T5 manual), under heavy throttle the shifter moves quite a bit to the right....I'm talking 2 inches or so....
I suspected tranny mount, but went underneath, and it looks mint....it's an Energy Suspension Poly unit BTW.
What else could it be? Motor mount? How can I check for a bad motor mount?
Inside the tranny itself?
Any thoughts?

What's the proper way to check for a bad motor mount?

If it's better, then you know, the old one was bad.

That's your solution? Replace parts until the problem goes away?
Please keep your silly answers to yourself.

motor mount
if your that worried about just throwing parts at it, take your hood off and watch the engine torque like crazy when your WOT :haha:
or put masking tape or something that tears easy on the motor mount and see if it moves enough to rip it? i donno something like that might work

I have the same issue, my shifter bounces around like crazy. Trans mount is good. Man I wish I replaced the motor mounts when the engine was out

Re: Shifter pulls to the right...
Well, I just fixed mine today. Turns out the mount was fine, but the bolts that hold the brackets to the motor fell out, and were sitting in the chassis. Yes, all three of them. Couldn't believe it.
So yeah, thanks for nothing Sofakingdom. Glad I didn't just buy a mount. But thanks to the other guys for helping me diagnose the problem.

Sorry I was wrong about the EXACT cause; that doesn't often happen. But then, usually I give people credit for having enough intelligence to check and make sure stuff is actually assembled properly, before they start insulting people who try to help them out. But I guess I erred in this case. Kinda like when somebody calls the appliance repairman because their washing machine or something, doesn't work; and the repairman asks all about does it do this or does it do that, and finally comes to the house, only to discover that IT WASN'T PLUGGED IN; and the owner gets some kind of attitude about "all you did was plug it in, why should I pay you to do THAT for me?" Yeah right. We can't always guess just how poor or non-existent an attempt at diagnosis has already been made.
So yeah, now that you've shown us what a nice guy you are, I hope for your sake you don't actually NEED some help sometime with something that actually requires THOUGHT and INTELLIGENCE to figure out; because nobody likes to help out a jerk.
