700r4 slipping in 3rd behind tt sbc
i picked up one of danas kits from a friend who bought it from dana and never used it
it was either the pro street or pro street elite kit id have to ask my friend to be sure . anyways my friend rebuilt the trans for me with the kit and i love it for the most part
light throttle and part throttle shifts are nice and they really really firm up when u get on it .
problem im having is it slips in 3rd gear and 3rdgear only at wot it makes the 2-3 shift perfect and holds for about a second and then it starts to slowly slip
checked tv cable and fluid, tv cable is set properly , and fluid isnt burnt up but i suspect it eventually will be if i keep trying to go wot in 3rd
any ideas on stuff i should be looking at ?
some info on the engine and car
355sbc with twin 57mm turbos currently at 12 psi probably making somewere around 450whp with the curent tune
im currently running a 10 inch 2,500 stall in the car as well

First off you need to put a line pressure gauge on the tranny, driver side above the shifter selector to confirm line pressure and to insure the TV cable is adjusted properly. Everyone thinks it right until you hook up a pressure gauge and then the story is told. If you call Dana @ Pro-built his going to tell you to get pressure readings in all gears to help dia the problem. It could be a number of thinks, but first stop driving the car. Who knows the damage could already be done. Sorry man just being honest. But if you pull the tranny take a good look at the forward sprag inside the input drum, because if the pressures turn out to be okay you could have flat spots on your sprag which is causing the slipping in third gear too. But Like I said it could be a number of things causing the problem. My sprag was my issue, even though it was less than a year old.

Review the attached chart from Bowtie overdrives web site, follow the direction on the sheet, and note all pressure readings. Then give Dana a call at Pro-Built 909-795-1876.

Re: 700r4 slipping in 3rd behind tt sbc
yup im glad,
now i have to deal with the sticking tv valve.
it likes to occasionally stick at about half throttle, a couple closed to wot throttle blips with the engine off usually gets it unstuck so as of now im in no real hurry to drop the pan and fix it the right way
lol its always something
