Trans fluid leak

I replaced the radiator in my 87 and now I'm leaking trans fluid around the bottom radiator connection. I've tightened it down as much as I can but I'm still getting quite a bit of fluid leak. Is there a secret to attaching these connectors? Is there supposed to be a washer on the connector to seal it? I didn't see one when I removed the old radiator.

Steve

Re: Trans fluid leak

Connections should be flaired. No amount of threadsealer or o-rings will stop leaks. You most likely crossthreaded it when reinstalling. Sometimes the female connector on the rad is removable, it may be leaking from that.

Re: Trans fluid leak

Over tightening a flared connection can sometimes put a small longitudinal crack in the flare of the hard line.

Take the connection apart and look at it carefully.
