finally got her on the road sounds good, got some bugs to work out, but the biggest problem im having is 2nd gear will not engage, 1st pulls like a train but it will not shift into second or PERIOD unless i eas off the gas then it goes into third and then into over drive, can my kickdown cable cause this? sometimes it goes into second but it acts like its in neutral. no gear.. my understanding is IF second was fried thne 4th would be screwed too correct?

 

It's been my experience that the gears will go out in order from the one that dies first, i.e. 2nd, then 3rd, then 4th, etc.

700r4's have a TV cable, it serves a different purpose than the kickdown cable but it has a role to play in the shift points. I would check and make sure that it is properly adjusted.
