Borg warner 9 bolt. It will be a posi rear with 3.27 gears. It's the 'strongest' (still pretty weak though) factory third gen rear end. It's an aussie made rear end. Very hard to get parts for, and not very 'serviceable'.

Well i have two problems that i'm bringing it to my mechanic for - and i'm not sure they are related to the rear end. The car drives fine except for two problems
  • Mild Whine while coasting (car in gear)
  • Dull Thud while accelerating (like the engine is pulling something and then connecting)

Rear end problem?

The whine could be Trans, rear end or wheel bearing.
The thud could be torque arm bushing, trans mount, U joints, or rear end

Really? That's weird, I have no issue getting bearings, seals, new cones and doig the machine work to set them up again with shims. These things are super easy to rebuild.

Re: Can someone tell me what rear end i have?

i used to have a "thud" on acceleration that was caused by a broken trans mount that allowed my aluminum driveshaft to hit the trans tunnel... fixed it with a poly trans mount..
