Classic sign of a bad transmission mount. Torque arm doesn't really "go bad", it would either bend or maybe break. Never heard of that happening though.

Re: Clunk when accelerating
I cannot TELL YOU how many trans mounts I have tore up in my car. I tore one up one time THE VERY FIRST TIME I took off after putting it in and backing down the driveway.
That whole part of our cars is a giant engineering .... erectile dysfunction.
It quit after I put in a torque arm with a sensible design, that wasn't constantly trying to tear up the trans mount.

Normally you will hear a broken/tore transmission mount "clunk" (feels like it wants to come through the floor between the front seats), when you shift from "park" into "gear" from a stop.
The way to see if the transmission mount is bad is to place a decent size block of wood under the transmission oil pan so the jack won't punch through it an jack it up a "little" bit.
You are looking to see if the rubber part of the mount has torn away from the metal mounting plate that it was attached to.
If you just look at it without lifting it , it will look fine.
It was a pain to find the Polyurethane Transmission Mount that would work but I finally did.
Energy Suspension Mount # 3.1108G with out using the pre-load plate.
No more torn trans. mounts for me.

Check the bushing. And definitely get the poly when you replace it. You won't be disappointed!

Not all members are happy with the poly mount. You might consider checking the following link for info before throwing down your cash.
