1991 700r4 rebuild write-up
SO, I bought me a great camera and intend to perform a write up of the 700r4/4l60 rebuild. My intentions are to take it apart and rebuild it several times in a row to understand what is easiest and best way to do it.
I want to give back to the thread since there is not too much in the line of a DIY rebuild here on the site. Any recommendations? Considerations? Requests? Coments? How can I tailor this to the needs of this community?

Re: 1991 700r4 rebuild write-up
I've done a 700R-4 myself, a 4L60E myself, and a TH350 myself. I used common hand tools plus fabricating whatever else I needed in the way of custom tools. None of them were super easy, but the TH350 didn't work afterward, the other 2 did.

Re: 1991 700r4 rebuild write-up
Well, here is a bump in the road....
I took it to the machine shop yesterday and dropped off the transmission for a bath in the big dishwasher. I got a call that it was ready around noon today so I headed down to pick it up. When I got there I was in for a surprise...
Instead of just washing the outside, he disassembled it and ran everything through the dishwasher. Two good things came out of this, I one give off a look that says, "this guy looks like he knows what he is doing" and two, he didn't charge me for it.
Needless to say, I have a clean basketcase. Except for all the old gaskets and clutches that he put in a bucket for me.
Now all I can hear is someone giggling and saying, "let's play a game"
So here is where it gets interesting. I have never taken one apart, and I was planning on disassembly with great photos and notes. What I plan on doing now is posting pictures and having you guys name the part. After that, we begin assembly!

Before you do anything, buy these two books (doesn't have to be from Amazon):

Re: 1991 700r4 rebuild write-up
I did my 700R-4 with nothing more than a B&M SuperTransKit, my 4L60E was later, I tried the TCI kit, and also got the ATSG book, but still used the B&M book the most. There were a few 4L60E-specific things the B&M book didn't cover. But the guts are mostly the same.
