Anyone see cracking like this before?

Been having some issues with my built 700r4 not going into 4th gear. Decided to remove the valve body and have it inspected. While I was under the car, I noticed some unusual cracking. The cracks are in the area under where the servo goes in. If these cracks lead all the way up to where the servo is.. would this be a reason for why my car isn't going into 4th? Should I also be worried that there is cracking down there?

Not surprising considering the billet servo greatly increasing the hydraulic pressure far beyond what GM intended. Switch to stock 'vette stuff, or kill the trans, your choice.

so if I switch back to a vette servo, will this trans still be usable with those cracks? or do I need another case?

100% sure its a crack? Maybe PSI test the trans.
The Billet servo is fine, many people run them, even in DD cars.

May not even be a crack, a lot of times the rough casting looks like a crack when it's not. To be honest, I'd be kind of surprised to see a crack develop there, but that doesn't mean it's not possible.

Granted it might look different being a picture than it does in person, but it looks like a blemish with some crud stuck on\in it to me.

My trans at home has the same casting marks. If the OP wants, I can send pics tonight when I get off work.

Re: Anyone see cracking like this before?

Thanks for all the replies.. I am relieved to hear that it's possibly just casting marks. Hopefully I can figure out why my 4th gear doesn't work.
