flywheel/clutch

I have a l98 motor and may put it in a 89rs with a t5. Right flywheel and clutch stuff. I believe the block was cast in 88. Valve covers are center type. Also I can get a 95 truck 350tbi complete for 200. Sons dady in law! He needs money and will pull it. Has a manual truck flywheel on it. Dose it got a be change to fit my t5

Re: flywheel/clutch

Isn't this the tranny forum? Nobody ever put a 350 into a 5 speed car b4?

Re: flywheel/clutch

the truck flywheel is likely the larger one which won't fit into the T5 without catastrophic metal removal

Re: flywheel/clutch

L98 heads will flow better than TBI heads.

The 153 tooth flywheel will fit in the T5 bellhousing. The 168 tooth flywheel will not.

Re: flywheel/clutch

Truck stuff won't fit.

Use the one off the 89 TBI motor.

Re: flywheel/clutch

There was no motor in the 89 rs. It was a roller with its t5 tranny.no flywheel and no clutch or pressure plate. Inspection cover missing to.so I need one if you got an extra. What I'm not sure of is the truck motor able to have a smaller manual flywheel put on it and the motor run right? You know still stay balanced!

Re: flywheel/clutch

Balance will not be a problem.

Just get the flywheel and clutch for the 89 car.

You'll find there are 2 flywheels available; one will be around 16 lbs (for TPI cars), one will be around 22 for TBI. You'll probably like the 16 lb one better.
