I'm not the best driver in the world, but i enjoy driving a manual. How difficult would it be to drag a 700hp 6 speed?

Well, I am assuming it is sort of challenging b/c the NHRA mandates a special license for 135 mph cars. But really I think building it will be harder than driving it.

You'd have to make 2 HP per cubic inch. It's a lot easier to talk about building a 700 HP engine than it is to do it. Even if you did do it, it wouldn't be all that streetable, so why would you want a manual? Imagine what missing a shift would do.

That's still 1.86 HP/cid for a 377. If you're going to destroke it, then I assume you're going to make your HP by turning it fast. It won't be a fun car to drive on the street. But if that's what you really want from your car then go nuts.

You might be happier starting with a 502 and working 700 hp up from there. It would certainly behave better on the street for you.

Yea a 502 would be easyer and have gobs of tq to back it up but GTA is planning on blowing his engine so tq isnt really an issue with a super charger especially a roots stystem which is probably what is going to be used, right?
I think a six speed would kick **** but a Th 400 would be much easyer and better for that application. BTW im still looking for the part # for that 9in rear housing I'll post it when I find it.

I'll bet you can make 700hp REAL streetable if you're smart about how you build it. Let's say you build it for high rpm, blow it or hair-dry it, and use a blower-friendly cam with a wide lobe separation and moderate (but not extreme) lift. You wind up with a motor that makes stupid high-rpm horsepower, but is still relatively modest below 3,000~3,500 rpm. As long as you're smart with your cam selection and your heads, you can still make it idle good and pull good vacuum. With the modest low end power, it should be fairly streetable. Or at least in theory.

I think a 700hp streetable motor is very possible, and has been done quite a few times...and in some small blocks as well. Much easier with the power adder application.

I think the real dilemma is the 6 speed. I would bet you would need an aftermarket from Richmond. A Jericho manual would handle it no problem.

There have been lots of manual cars with power above 700 do fine. But I haven't heard of one with the 6 speed. I imagine you want it for the overdrive gear!?

Little GTA that's the idea... I want to try and save up on SOME gas mileage.... I heard the t-56 has two overdrives.. the fifth and sixth gears are both overdrives... Someone correct me if i am wrong. Jim85iroc hjas got it right about where i want it... a 377 will keep some good torque from its 400 roots and some awesome rpm cababilites from its 350 crank combined with that 400. Eventually a turbo slappred on that will make it even more fun. Turn down the psi to run it on the street where it will be streetable.. because you're not winding it up to 7.5 grand every time you shift. Out at the track have some fun. six speed, boost cranked WAYYYYYYYYYY yup ***** to the walls... Let em rip
