non computer t 700 r4 ????
which t700 r4 can i use in a non computer 82 z/28 with standard dash gauges,,,speedometer,,,tacho,,, no computer at all on this car ,,,carb engine, only
Actually that IS a computer car, just not completely controlling the tranny, just L/U. While you can bolt in any V8 tranny except the 'Vette, it will not work correctly as a Z-28 tranny. Where is the original tranny?

almost everything will work all of your cars components. The Tq converter wont lock up which is not big deal just put a cooler on it. You could use your crossmember if you are handy and want to make the 700r4 mount fit. You will need a drive shaft for the 700r4. I cant remember how long it is in inches but im thinking a full size rwd caprice (7r4) has the same lengh drive shaft.

Any 700r4 will work just fine. The only electronic part of the 700r4 is the torque converter lock-up. The lock-up is the easy part--all you need is a manual on/off switch or a lock-up kit from TCI(70 bucks) to automatically control it. The crossmember will need to be modified and a later model 3rd gen driveshaft(700r4/t5) will need to be used.
Use the GM vacuum switch PN 14014519 & GM connecter PN 12102606. Install the vacuum switch on the fire wall and a vacuum hose to a true vacuum source. Hook one wire to the battery (use resistor wire) & the other to the "A" pin in the plug at the transmission, it is the outer pin in the plug toward the front of the vehicle. You might have to make a ground, install it then see if its needed. Make sure engine/transmission is itself grounded to the frame with a strap. Now it will lock & unlock automatically.
