You joined in 2012 and have 1 post? If your going to post, fill us in on details. Why go bigger? What HP are you running? Stick or auto? What rear gears are you currently running? What gears do you want? What's wrong with your rear end, and what's you budget or don't you have one.

Sky is the limit. How much do you want to spend and why are you wanting to upgrade it? If you are just doing street driving you don't need to upgrade the rear, just replace it if it ever blows out. Depending on how much you are paying per rear end (yards around me are only asking $100), you may be able to replace it 10 times before you reach the cost of a complete aftermarket rear end.

The engine is a SB350 chev (Dart bottom end, edlebrock heads and tpi fuel system with a blow through procharger.

I do not want to butcher the body for a bigger rear end (now-373)

S60 is economical and heavy but with no bells or whistles - more like $2800.
8.8 may hold, maybe. No idea on cost.
9" is a great rear, but to get them where their reputation is will cost north of $3500.
I went with Mark Williams 12 bolt, Stronger pinion yoke, Big Ford Brake housing, and set-20 bearings, TruTrac - the good stuff (it costs). $3300, then brakes.

Well, you could go with a S60 or 12 bolt and a 700r4 and probably live for a while, but with an estimated 750 hp at the crank and 624 to the rear tires, any time spent at a drag strip, or even just smoking the tires will strain the gears on a smaller diameter gear set. if you have built a motor and trans that good and it's just a ripper once in a while, why then skimp on the rear? Suppose you someday decide to go with a manual trans, the shock alone would damage a smaller rear. You have built a very good motor it sounds like, so keep the drive train happy and finish the build right.

Hawk's builds custom made 8.8 rear ends, and with the right selection of parts, they say they're good for about 1000 HP, and will cost you up into the high $3000. ...at what point the price per power rating stops being worthwhile is really up to your needs and budget I suppose. I haven't purchased one yet, but I will. Built the way I want, for my 400hp+ needs, it's the cheapest on the market and will handle my needs all day. Your power rating and needs may start to push the price into other options.

I have the race style s60 strange rear. 4.10 gears. It's heavier but with gun drilled axles, spool, it's not really that bad. Got it from Midwest Chassis and it was delivered in about 3 weeks from the day of ordering it.
Was the best priced option for me and i love it. It will never break.9.75 inch ring gear... 35 spline axles. It will handle your hp needs and then some.
Roughly 2800 bucks delivered, assembled, with strange disc brake kit included.

I will definitely be changing this rear, as it is broken now.
Don't know which rear I will be using but I will be sure to post my results.
