Transmission issue ?

I have a 85 z28 with the 700r4 and today my 4 gear started to lag a bit. When getting into it seemed like it would grab but when slowing getting into it, it would shoot up to 3500 rpm then drop to 2500 rpm before it grabbed. Checked trans fluid and it seemed a bit low put near a quart then i adjusted the tv cable and its shifting better then it was but still seems like its lagging a bit more then norm. Any ideas ?

Re: Transmission issue ?

Sounds like your clutches may be starting to go. What was the condition of the fluid? You may want to drop the pan and change the fluid

Re: Transmission issue ?

If you want this transmission to last for awhile, add the Corvette servo and boost valves to this transmission. Add the .500" main boost and the .296" intermediate/reverse boost valve. This will speed up the shifts and make the clutches and band last longer. This can be done without removing the transmission.

Thanks. Thought about adding the corvette servo. I'll have to look into adding the valves
