91 Camaro or Firebird, 3.1L, Built on 214th day, second shift. FBM is the model number, which you can use to identify service parts in the catalog. Not much else to tell.

Cool thanks buddy. I'm gonna buy it off some dude for 80 bones. Most likely It is not in working order that's why it was removed but you never know. I wanna tear into it, see whats going on in there and possibly rebuild myself. I want it to replace my 92 v6 700r4 when it goes. That way I have two trans.

It is a 1991 (first digit is a 1) and for $80.00 that is a very good price as long as the oil is not black. 1987 - 1993 700R4 cores are going for $200.00 most everywhere now.

Yeah dude wanted 150 for it but I talked him down 80. Told him most likely it was no good that's why they removed it. I'm picking it up friday after work.Hopefully he doesn't flake.

For a six cylinder trans?

Guess I shouldn't have scrapped mine then. Oops.

Where do I go to redeem a V8 700R4 case? LOL I was going to recycle it with the rest of the aluminum scrap, but if it's actually worth something.....

I know, right? I beat mine with a sledge so I could get the steel out of it to recycle it all

I hate when I throw stuff away and then later end up needing it.

Re: 700r4 Identification

My mistake. If it is a non V-8 bellhousing, then it not worth as much. The majority of the gear train is still useable. A lot of these have the 5,500 rpm or 6,000 rpm matching valve body and governor setup, depending on what motor was in front of it and the horsepower (at what rpm was the horsepower rated at?) of the motor. Haven't seen one of these in years.
