T56 Master Cylinder?

All;

Found tons of info on doing the T56 swap...my transmission is being rebuilt right now, and I'm gathering the parts for the swap. I already have the flywheel, and a McLeod Street Level clutch set on the way.

One thing I found confusing was the proper master cylinder/slave cylinder for the swap. I'm going with 4th gen pedals, which seem to solve neatly the issue with the different clutch pedal geometry compared to the 3rd gen pedals.

However, a couple of posts seem to indicate that using an OEM 4th gen master cylinder will be a problem, because the hose going down to the bellhousing to the clutch fork will be too short.

Is this the case, and if so, what would be the best and least costly master cylinder to order that would simply bolt in?

The car will be almost 100% street driven, so I'm not necessarily wanting something for racing, just something reliable for street use.

Re: T56 Master Cylinder?

The stock 4th gen hose is like 3 feet long.

Whatever problems you encounter, the hose being too short will NOT be among them.

When I put a T-56 in my car, I just bought a whole MC/line/reservoir/SC/fluid assy at the stealership, pre-filled pre-bled. Ordered it for a 97 Z28 or some such. Bolted right in, worked great. Hose was PLENTY long enough. Nowadays you could probably get it cheeeeeeeper at someplace like rockauto.com.

Exactly what I needed to know...thanks! Any idea of the part number for the OEM cylinder? Rockauto doesn’t list them for sale on their website.

Re: T56 Master Cylinder?

I had looked at 1993, and 1994...oddly, it wasn’t listed for those years.

Thank you!

Re: T56 Master Cylinder?

I found it for both 93 and 94, it's the same list coincidentally

Re: T56 Master Cylinder?

I'm rather embarrassed...I had looked diligently, and couldn't find the OEM listed at all...but after having asked, now it shows up just fine in my browser.

Anyway, thanks again for the help, it was much appreciated. Summit Racing is offering $25.00 discounts on $250.00 orders, and $50.00 on $500.00 orders, and I wanted to take advantage quickly while that was going on.

It still is....use 50YEARS as a discount code...I don't know how long it will be running.
