TransGo® has been improving automatic transmission Performance Control and Durability for ever 35 years. If you want performance shifts, more firmness, Shift Control and Durability using normal hand tools and without removing the transmission, do what the professional mechanic has been doing for over 35 years...INSTALL TRANSGO
A transgo kit can be put in a 700R4 tranny without removing the tranny?

Shift kits are pretty basic to install with the trans in the car. You'll need to drop the pan and remove the valve body.(Hope you don't mind bathing in ATF)For me the toughest part is holding up the valve body with one hand and starting the bolts with the other,so it might be easier with some help.
It's easier with the trans out, because you can turn it upside down, but I've done it both ways.
