I was having a really notchy and hard time shifting with new MGW shifter on this Viper T56. I researched this mod and for a $7 fix I couldnt be happier. I might need to do the softer reverse lockout spring cause reverse is still a little tough to get in. Powershifting will be no issue at all now. For those who want to do it; dorman 65277, 15/16" socket or 24mm, 2-3 swivels and I didnt drop the x member even with little room and 3" y-pipe in the way(your going to have to get creative) Throw some grease on the ball end, black rtv the threads and torque to 18 ft pounds but your not getting a torque wrench in there(unless trans out) lol
Re: Anti-venom mod(shift detent ball shim) for T56
It's interesting how "notchiness" is tuneable. You touched on the detent affecting shifts in and out of neutral. There is also the vertical detent, clicking into each gear, on the shift rail, under the inspection cover.
The lateral shift detent deletion in the CTS-V and then TR6060 is another refinement of note.
