Early 3rd gear shift

Early 3rd gear shift
Hello guys,
I swapped my 92 V6 to a V8 last year. runs and drives fine. But I have a little problem that my 88 GTA doesn't seem to have. The transmission shifts into 3rd gear too early. First, second, 4th, Lockup etc is fine but 3rd comes on about 20-25 mph, so engine speed drops real low to about 1000 rpm. How is this 3rd shift controlled and what can I do about it?
The transmission came from a 91 Trans Am, of course I changed the oil and filter before installation. Everything looked nice and clean when I dropped the pan, no obvious modifications done to it. Oil level is good, not burnt, no flakes in the oil. As I said, everything else is fine. My 88 GTA shifts to 3rd gear later, my former V6 also did. TV Cable is set correct as described in the service manual. Has the TV even an influence on 3rd gear shift?
