Possible bad clutch
Possible bad clutch
So I was in a parking lot and accidentally put my car in third gear (it's an 88 305 tpi 5 spd) while I was stopped thinking it was first. Surprisingly, it didn't stall (it almost did), and I didn't even go over 3000 rpm. Does this mean I have a bad clutch? Could this explain power surges and seemingly powerless rpms(3000-5000) in first and second gears?

Re: Possible bad clutch
Probably. Go up a steep hill at like 25 mph and put it in 4th. If it doesn't bog down then it's likely slipping. Yes it could explain not having any power in first and second.
