Recommend a Clutch

Hi Y'all. I've got a mild 355 with vortec heads going into my 1989 Bird and behind it is going to be a fresh 2.95 geared WC T5. For the rear gearing i am going with 3.90 gears in a 9 Bolt. I'm just not sure what clutch i should put in that will last me a decent while, be fun to pound the street with and not give the trans a harder time than necessary. I don't have a lot of experience with clutches and what brand is best so i would really appreciate some recommendations and/or feedback on what others have experienced.

Re: Recommend a Clutch

I have been happy with my spec stage 1 in a similar engine.

Re: Recommend a Clutch

I have been considering that one along with the McLeod 75125 streetpro but, if I can, I would like a cheaper option.

Re: Recommend a Clutch

Sounds like something similar to factory would work. Either Luk (French) or Sachs (German) would work. Luk clutch kit on Summit is $100, includes disc, pressure plate, t/o bearing and pilot bushing.

Re: Recommend a Clutch

I am doing this on a relatively low budget so I might buy the cheaper stock like clutch and just replace it down the road when it goes. I did however find the PERFECTION CLUTCH30005Skit and for about $115 from rockauto that might be the way to go.

Why so concerned with the TO bearing? Are most of them that come with the kits crap?
