10 Bolt questions

So i have a posi 1990 7.625 10 bolt that i'm putting 3.73s in and i cant figure out what size my new ring gear bolts are. The set i got from Motive Gear has a sheet that has a bunch of different bolt sizes on it. I have no idea what to torque the ring gear bolts to, i've found several different specs for them but i need some help. One site says 50-65 ft lbs, a second one says 90 ft lbs and the third site says 100-110 ft lbs

Re: 10 Bolt questions

This is going off of memory, so take it with a grain of salt, but I'm pretty sure I did mine to 65 ft-lbs when I swapped in my Torsen.

Re: 10 Bolt questions

Call the company that you bought the parts and ask them the torque specs, better for warranty claims than the "I torqued it to what the google search said "

Re: 10 Bolt questions

The '92 FSM states to use 89 ft/lbs to torque the ring gear to case bolts.

Note that these bolts are a left-hand thread.

RBob.

Re: 10 Bolt questions

You'll need a "left handed" torque wrench......

Re: 10 Bolt questions

Actually that's not a bad comment.... I didn't think of it too I did my 1st rear end years ago that my " click" style torque wrench does not resister on left bolts... I had to get a beam style one for them..
