Initially the transmission was installed with the 700r4 shifter arm and the stock cable. However that caused some sloppy shifting (had to bypass the gear and then move up one to get the required ear. So now I bought a 4th gen shifter cable and it won't work with the 700r4 shifter arm on the transmission.

I'm not sure if it's just a clip that is missing or the entire arm (ball socket) is wrong.

Or maybe I just need something like this, that plastic piece, not entirely clear. And ignore the crud, I'll be cleaning things as I'm replacing gaskets!!
