'Simple' Problem During a T56 swap on a 1988 IROC-Z
First time doing a T56 swap and have run into a problem with the shift fork. So far we have the Cross-member mounted, Transmission installed, Driveshaft in, Torque arm in and the only thing holding us up at the moment (that we know of) is the installation of the shift fork.
We have the shift fork installed but do not have it slid over the throw-out bearing.
It feels like it slides forward, suspect it is just that tensioning clip moving closer into place as the end of the clutch. However, the end of the fork with the divet in it is not where it needs to be for the installation of the hydraulic part of the clutch. I'd get a picture of the bearing but for the life of me, I couldn't get a good angle.
The bearing its supposed to slide over is in place and those three tabs on it are aligned in the slots. The pointed part of the bearing is pointed almost directly at the shift fork. Any solutions or things to check out? I would prefer not to pull the transmission again but if it has to be done it has to be done.
I picked this project up after it was fully disassembled by someone else. Is there any chance that I've unintentionally done something dumb like install the clutch assembly 90 degrees off or something along those lines?
I viewed the stickied threads and did not find anything helpful about this other than someone asking for tips.
Any and all advice or links would be very much appreciated.
If I've done something stupid let me know, I'd rather be a knowing idiot than an unknowing one.
