Please HELP T56 Clutch Problem
I just finished the T-56 swap and my pedal wouldn't push in so stupid me pushed real hard and snapped the master cylinder pushrod. So i ordered new sealed system from GM and installed it no problem...I was driving it down the street and all of a sudden I went to shift into third and the pedal wouldn't even budge. So i dont want to force it like last time..
What could be the problem...Sticky Throwout bearing? I know the clutch disk is in the right way...Please help

Ok, decided to take off trans and check it out....My throwout bearing is broken...One half stayed on the clutch side of the pressure plate and the other half was sliding freely on the transmission shaft and their were bearings falling out...Does anyone know what would cause this to happen and if so where to get a throwout bearing and how much they are.....I called SPEC and they said that it was just an OEM replacement throwout bearing....? any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

OEM parts usually come from the local dealer, or a national seller like Dal at Vandevere Olds or SDPC2000.com
And for your next question, they'll be able to look up the part# and price.
I think the original pedal problem may be a hint, likely the fork wasn't seated correctly on the throwout bearing and that caused it to fail.

I would ask for a throwout BUSHING this time around. The bearings seem to fail more often and when thy do come apart the pieces can get into the clutch disc and flywheel causing even more chaos. Just use some hi temp grease on the bushing and you'll be set.

Does a bushing install the same way? you must take the pressure plate off to install the bearing, correct?
I have another question, when I first installed my clutch i had to start one bolt on the pressure plate and then use a C-Clamp to tighten to the flywheel so I couldstart the rest of the bolts.
I called GM today and they told me $183 for the bearing...is this right....That's F***in ridiculous...
Sorry about the dumb questions guys...this is my first ever experience with a manual trans.

the bushing is incorrect. He's talking about a pilot bushing which is the small bushing you should have tapped into the end of your crank for the input shaft of the transmission to ride in.
i sure hope a throw-out bearing isn't 180 dollars cause i'm going to need one myself and that is ridiculous

I know about the bushing...I put a roller type bushing in the crank.....The throwout bearing is $183 i double checked from GM but i got mine for cost at KOI Auto Parts $97...
I now understand that you shouldn't have to force the pressure plate to fit which now leads me to beleive theirs something wrong w/ my clutch...I bought it used and it looks fine...But i dont think the clutch disk is the right disk for the pressure plate.

You may have the disc in backwards. If you look at it edge-on, the side that the hub sticks out from should be toward the flywheel. The "flat" side goes toward the pressure plate. This is counter to every other clutch design that I know of, and it's due to the pull-style pressure plate used with the LT1 tranny.
Just an idea.

You're right it won't.....at least not without a ton of fabrication and modification. You'd just about have to cut the back half of the floorpan out and redo the whole rear suspension and floorpan.
