Tranny not shifting into park (Shifter Cable) (Pics)
Ok, I know its my shifter cable. It seems slightly short. When I had the stock one, it worked fine, but it broke when I was swaping trannies, so I bought a new one from Auto Zone. Or Orilley's, I can't remember.
Anyway, I've tried to adjust it a multitude of ways, but it still doesn't shift into park, and there is play in the shifter when I shift it into any other gear. I know for a fact its teh shifter cable. How can I get the extra 1/8-1/4 inch that I need?

Here tranny, and cable in in Park position. But as you can see, it barely fits. And when I tighten it down, it doesn't allow me to shift into park.

Well.. I got it to go into park. I modified the bracket that holds the cable... with a hammer. I can get it into park with a little force.
The other gears however, still have a bunch of play in the shifter. Still drives me nuts, but at least I have park..
