84 Z28 what Tranny
84 Z28 what Tranny
I have a 1984 Z28 with an automatic with overdrive. Can someone tell me what Tranny is in this car or what I need to do to look up the correct tranny? I was told it was stock from the previous owner who said it was a 200r4 but is it a TH200 or something instead?
Just looking for the correct terminology on this.
The car already has an crate engine in it 350 but the edelbrok 1406 is coming off and we are installing a Holley Sniper EFI and I think I need to get a TCC lock up switch kit for it?
Can someone tell me if the TCC lock up could still be working even without most of the original ECU hooked up? It appears that the TCC wires and vacuum are all still hooked up. I want to remove the ECU and wiring but is it still controlling the TCC lock up switch?
I know the correct thing to do is probably remove it all and buy a kit for the TCC. I am just interested in if you think it is still working now.
I am also interested in MPG once I get this all done currently it only gets 8 to 10 MPG. I thought it would do better then that but maybe it isn't getting into OD?
Thanks
Chad

Re: 84 Z28 what Tranny
Thank you so much for the info I looked into the Holley EFI and yes it sure does sound like it can control the TCC lock-up. I will just have to do some leg work but it saves me some extra money and I will take out all the ECU wiring and contact Holley on what I need to do.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
