Adjust the TV cable for 700-4r

Here is a link from youtube as to how to adjust the tv cable for a 700-4r tranny. Is that the correct method? My car is a 1984 Trans AM with the 700 tranny all original.

Not exactly. You do the adjustment with everything connected. IIRC, you first hold the button in and shove the end back towards the firewall so that it is all the way inside the housing as far as it will go. Release the button and rotate the throttle arm to full throttle. The TV cable adjuster will click as it follows the throttle arm pulling the cable to full throttle. And that's it, it is adjusted and you are done.

That will work as long as the Throttle-Body/ Carburetor Linkage geometry is correct.

Small additional adjustments, of a Click or Two in either direction, can be helpful at times.
