NWC to WC t5 ??

Have a 86 z with a 85 350 2 piece rear main I know I have to get a flywheel for the 2 piece rear main, and I'm using my bell from the 86 that came out of it. My question is, Will the world class bolt up to the non world class bell housing and what else to expect as far as length and height drive shaft. everybody say the nwc is not worth to rebuild not a race car

Re: NWC to WC t5 ??

1st design and 2nd design are absolutely identical in every way from the outside, as far as fitment, within a specific application. Let's say, V8 83-92 F-body. 6-cyl ones aren't the same, or MooseTang ones, or 4th gen ones, or ANY OTHER; but all 83-92 T-5ts are IDENTICAL in fit, from the outside. That means: clutch, flywheel, bell housing, clutch mechanism whether mech or hyd, shifter, trans mount, speedo whether cable or electronic, torque arm mount, drive shaft, ... did I leave anything out?

I have a 83 L69 Z28. The stock shifter SUCKED. About the 2nd or 3rd time I banged my knuckles on the dash in a 2-3 shift, I got it a Hurst Comp Plus. Probably within 6 months of buying it. It came of course with the super crappy mech linkage. In about 86 or so I came across a wrecked 84 and got the full hyd setup out of it; plopped right in, all I had to do was cut out the hole in the firewall. Those 2 mods were AMAZING: revolutionized driving the car. Altogether better in EVERY way than the original. Then after destroying I forget how many 1st design T-5s (I put a 400 in it in about 88), I think I probably went through 4 or 5 cores and a dozen or more rebuilds, I got a 2nd design one out of about a 91 1LE car (had the good gear ratios) in maybe 98 or so. Plopped right in. Then I got about a 96 or 97 LT1 T-56 in maybe 99 or 2000, and when the T-5 gave up the ghost I put that in. Musta been maybe 02 or 03. Haven't had ANY transmission trouble since.

Bear in mind, this is all about FITMENT: the transmissions aren't all THE SAME. LG4 & L03 grocery carts got the crappy gears. L69, and at least some LB9s (ones with G92), got the good gears. Those are the ones to get. Not sure about LB9s without G92. Needless to say it's sorta tough to "place an order" for that: gotta wait until somebody wrecks a really MINT one, and be the first buyer standing there peeling Benjamins off of an impressively tall stack. Be prepared for it to take ALOT longer and ALOT more effort than you "plan", to get a really preeemo transmission.

But yeah, jumps RIGHT UP INTO your car, almost all by itself. Like buttah.
