Seems the guys who ( went out of business ) created a Frankenstein clutch for my 1982 Z28 Camaro. It has a Saginaw 4 speed with a 10 inch spline and having a hard time coming up with a clutch kit. (NEW OR IF SOME ONE HAS ONE AS PARTS USED.) My shop guy is at wits end trying to figure it out. We know it is a 10 spline out put shaft, but, the clutch is a ( 9.5 inch clutch ) is that correct ??? He picks some minds, Summit and old gear heads from the day, and his and there understanding, they never made a Clutch and Clutch kit like that , and should be if anything, 10.5 , my fly wheel is 153 teeth by the way. SO, ANY ONE OUT THERE IN THIRDGEN NATION WHO HAPPEN TO HAVE A SAGINAW 4 SPEED, WHAT SIZE CLUTCH IN YOUR CAMARO, 9.5 OR 10.5 ? DO RECALL WHAT CLUTCH KIT YOU USED ON A SAGINAW 1982 AND MAYBE 1983 MECHANICAL TRANSMISSION ? ANY ONE OUT THERE MAY HAVE UPGRADED MAY HAVE SAVED A DECENT CLUTCH PARTS KIT ? HE GOT SOME BAD ADVICE AND PUT IN A RAM 2 PLATE IN IT, AND NOT ENOUGH MOTOR, NEEDS AS A STARTNG POINT, 450 hp , MINE ABOUT 250 hp AND I HAVE 3.23 GEARS THIS CAN , NEEDS 4.11S. NOT A FIT. HELP SAVE CAMARO. DOES ANY REMEMBER THE KIT ON THERE SAGINAW OR HAVE KNOWLEDGE TO PASS ON OF ONE. THANKS

Did the S10 clutch I told you about fit? If not, why not? Did the 10.4" disc that came with the kit fit except for the splines being the old low-perf kind (as would be expected on the low-perf Saggy transmission)?
Try not to SCREAM AT US. It's completely unnecessary, besides being VERY hard to read.

I need a 10 tooth input spline, this was a 14 tooth input spline and looking for a complete kit. Me and the guy working on the car, can not understand why a 305 motor that the clutch for some reason, as best I can understand, the fly wheel, it was ok with the old clutch starting that they took out, I was ok with that Ram duel plate clutch that was to big for my car. I have a contact where we both had 82 F cars, and he had a 10,5 clutch and a Saginaw Tranny 10 spline and installed that clutch kit in his fathers car and all was well. I found a clutch kit from ram , but, one was for a ten spline ( not making that any more ) the other for a 14 spline it is for a 5 speed mine is a 4 speed 10 inch spline.

There is no 14 tooth spline on a GM car clutch that I'm aware of. They were 10 or 26. Frod may have had a 14-spline, not sure. Wouldn't be right in any case.
All the clutches for these cars were 10.4". (aka 10½")
A "dual plate" clutch wouldn't be the right thing no matter what.
Use the clutch (aka pressure plate) that comes in the kits that you CAN buy (such as for T-5, which will include a disc with 26 splines). Get the disc for a S10 2.8.
Post less. Read more. Not sure how many times I need to post this before it sinks in?

I parted out an 84 2.8 w a t5 and it had a 14 spline trans.I think it was also only an inch in diameter. the disk was also smaller. It was a really weird and mostly a useless trans. But all the v8s have a 10.5 clutch. The Saginaw was a 10 spline and they make simple kits that will work. Some dual disk clutches are really smooth but not necessary for you. A stock replacement LUK or RAM clutch will work fine and be inexpensive.

Sorry, should have included, a GN V8 clutch car. There is no 14 tooth spline on a GM car clutch that I'm aware of.
I know basically nothing about the 6-cyl ones. In that respect I may even be wrong about using a S10 clutch, since if that's 14-spline, it wouldn't work. That's the recipe for putting a 6-cyl T-5 into a V8 car.

It sounds like you need a 10.5-inch clutch kit, but it's been difficult to find one because of the Frankenstein clutch that was previously installed. You can try to contact the manufacturer of the RAM 2-plate clutch kit that was installed in your Camaro. They may be able to provide you with more information about the kit and how to troubleshoot the problem, or they may even be able to help you find a compatible 10.5-inch clutch kit.
Yes , it is a 10.5 clutch kit, turns out the guy who work on my car , is a old school gear head and the guy old cars go to, screwed up, he saw the old parts, preasure plate and clutch disk and though it was a 9.5 disk, 10 spline. Saturday I went to the shop, they did find a kit for the 9.5 I did not want that but the Hays 450 kit that I order, before I could say anything more, he told me when he actually looked at the disc, something did not look right and that it was to big for a 9.5, that actually it was a 10.5 disc. So, he got some adjusting to do as work done and money up forward and he feels bad this happened and gave me his word to will fix what they did as far as cost and labor. Today is 10/17/23 and his 10.5 kit for my 153 tooth fly wheel is suppose to arrive today. In the mean time, holding on to the Hays kit. THANKS FOR REPLYING AND LOOKS LIKE A FUBAR ON THERE PART, I am sure this will be corrected, and does suck living in Buffalo NY lost some car time with the weather I took it in and stuff end of the year and season.
