Park lock cable at shifter - can't adjust?!
Park lock cable at shifter - can't adjust?!
1982 camaro z28 automatic 305: The cable is too long at the shifter assembly and from what I read you can adjust the length at the cable barrel by removing the plastic U lock from the barrel. Then the barrel should slide back or forth to the desired spot. Then snap the plastic U lock back into the barrel to lock it in place. I have done all of this and the barrel won't budge in any direction along the cable. Im out of ideas and need help! Thanks in advance.

Are you replacing an old cable that snapped or is this the original cable being reinstalled?
Make certain as well that the shifter and transmission are in the same gear when replacing the cable.
If it is a new cable, make sure both ends match up with what the old cable had.
Beyond that, can you post a picture of what part you think requires adjustment? Many of the older cables had the adjustment on the transmission end.
