T-5 to 700R4 conversion question

I'm converting a 85 Iroc that originally came with the T-5 Manual tranny to a 700r4 tranny. Is there anything I should be aware of during this swap?? I got the car from a friend, and he pulled the engine & tranny out of it before I got it. I'm going to be installing the engine & tranny in the car, & just wanted to know if anyone else has done this, and can offer any advise, parts that will be needed ( I know I'm gonna need the shifter assy., shift cable, and tranny cross member). anything else??

Thanks!!
Derrick

hey,
i did this swap on my camaro. It wasn't easy but i think that it was worth it. You will definately have to patch that hole in the floorboard. I used a piece of steel that i bought from a hardware store. Try to buy some that is the same thickness as the floor itself.....if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me.

The computer. The pedal assembly, unless you want a useless clutch pedal there to fake out unsuspecting drivers (no, no, you gotta push in the clutch to drop it into D). I guess you'll need the flywheel as well, unless all that's already bolted together (you got the engine/tranny together).

Eddie, The guy I got the car from had already pulled the original motor & 5 speed tranny from the car. I wouldn't mind having the 5 speed either, but I have a freshly rebuilt 700r-4 tranny sitting in my garage with an SLP shift kit installed in it. It was gonna be a back-up tranny for my convertible, but (knocking on wood here!! ) It just won't die, although it's probably due for a freshining up (it has over 150,000 miles on it though). The '85 coupe I'm building originally had the compu-carb engine in it, so I couldn't answer your question about the avalibility of TPI & the 5 speed, although I know that you couldn't get the 350 with the 5 speed.
Thanks again guys!!!
