89 Tranny in 85

Need some quick help. I am replacing my original tranny in my 85 LB9. I found a good one on EBAY from an 89. I thought that because I have a 2 piece rear seal that I need to make sure that the new tranny also has a 2 piece seal ? This 89 700r4 is completely rebuilt with aftermarket parts .This guy beleives it will fit. I disagree, AM I wrong ?

The trans does not care about the seal.

I have a 91 T-5 in my 83 car. I also used to have the same 91 trans behind a 73 model 400 motor.

The only thing is you can't use is the flexplate[flywheel] , all you have to do is get one for a two piece seal engine.

the 1985 is a two piece rear main seal. the trans.\torque converter will bolt directly to your existing 1985 f-plate as long as its in good shape. replace it with the same part as spec.'ed out for your 85 and i think most aftermarket f-plates are drilled for both t converter bolt configurations nowadays.:lala:
