gears for the 9 bolt
Where can I get different gears for my 9bolt? It has 4.11 now and I want 3.42s.

http://www.geocities.com/mek88427/nine_bolt.html they have gears for 295 bucks witch is the best i have found. also if u are swapin otu your 4.11's how much do u wunt for them?
Are you sure it has 4.11s. They didnt come stock with them and the only place I have seen aftermarket gears other than 3.70 is from 88 427 camaro. He sells 4.10s. Also, the closest ratio for a nine bolt to 3.42 is 3.45 and unless you buy them used you cannot get them that cheap. Again this is because 88 427 camaro is the only one that sells them. The problem with getting 3.45s is that they are the most rare gear made for these. They were the performance ratio for the cars that happened to have the 9 bolt and a 5 speed. I am not sure but they may have only been available certain years also, and maybe with only 305 tpi. I know that you could only get them with 305 which should be obvious because you could only get the 5 speed (which was required for this ratio) with the 305. Well, I think you get the picture.

Exactly Ben. The 3.45 gear was only available for 305 M5 cars as an option. All A4 cars - regardless of the engine - that had the Borg Warner rear axle had 2.77s or 3.27s. It is more common to find the 3.27 gear in the 305 cars and the 2.77 gear in the 350 cars though..... A 4.11 ratio was never offered.

I do have the 9bolt posi, disc rear end. I guess it does have 4.10s. The drive shaft turns 4 times w/ one turn of the tire. I checked the site above and they do sell the gears for the price stated.
are both wheels turning when you count? They both need to turn the same amount in the same direction. They should do this anyway if you have posi. What kind of rpms do you run on the highway.
