4th Gen Camaro "Tweaked" CRAZY INFO!

Check this out. If anyone has ever heard of "Tweaked", its the Green 4th gen with the gigantic turbo that pushes major horses. It was in Summit magazine and plenty others...

I just left our local track and if anyone knows, this "Tweaked" Camaro was based out of Houston, TX. Well, surprisingly, "Tweaked" was there and was going to race!
He rares to go, engine blaring, crowd on its feet...

He launches and "BOOM!"......he freakin ripped his driveshaft in half. I've heard of the shaft coming out the rear end or at the Tranny, but to snap in half?

I just thought this info was pretty interesting and that I might post if for the Camaro enthusiants....

Well I broke a u-joint, broke both ends of a driveshaft, blew a tailshaft up and broke the bellhousing clear around the transmission off the motor with a fairly mild 350. If you race something, and your hooking up real good expect to break things.

This was in a 80 Trans Am. Perfectly good reason to install a driveshaft loop.

Later.

<edit> I think its also called "Tweaked II" because Tweaked was a grand national or a turbo regal I believe. Amazing none the less.

There are a decent number of people from the Houston area on these boards. Check out the SWMG board. Some of the guys had a gathereing (pretty decent turnout) and are planning another.

I'm in the Willowbrook area. Spring, I guess you could say. There's a huge club of cars around here and all over town, called Houston-F-body. Their address is...

www.houston-f-body.org

They get really big and sometimes have very large gatherings on Westheimer in Houston. Last gathering had somewhere around 100 cars, supposivly. I'm not an active member, but as soon as my car is ready, I will be.

That car is actually called Tweaked II, the original was a regal"grand national"

He switched to the 4th gen camaro for the areodynamic advantages.

Guess he got tired of pushing a barn into the 8's

Yea, I knew it was either Tweaked I or II. Funny thing is, I could of sworn that the car I saw that night read, "TWEAKED"..and that was it. Oh well. I think tweaked is an understatement in that car's case.

Actually, the first tweaked was only a buick t-type. And he was doing 7.60's. The last time I talked to the owner, tweaked II was turning 1900+ hp and his main limitation is the combo of clutch settings and tire traction. I think he's doing 6.70's right now. It's been a little while since I talked to him. There's also a new white 4th gen out there thats a quad turbo big block. They are supposed to start competition next season. Just thought I would let you know. Also a Houston guy...........Later

Yea, but in all honesty you have to watch out for some of those imports.

Imports can be a pest sometimes. But I do love it when one revs up near me intending it for me, and then I eat him for lunch. I DO NOT like it when it happens vica versa. hehe.
