Front pump gone?

Yesterday I just started up my car in the morning and because I was running late I just drove it without warming it up.So about 50 feet from the driveway I here a strange hissing noise like someone was scratching the paint on my car. Then the tranny just stops! All gears are now like neutral.Today I started it in the garage and let it warm up and checked my fluid.Nice, clean and full and not leaking from anywhere.Fluid is not going down the dip stick when warming though.Thinking its the pump.Trans was recently rebuilt and up till this point I was extremely happy with my investment.(has 12000 miles of non strenuous driving,700 r4 1987 case non electric)Of course the warranty just expired and the trans shop is not honoring anything. Here are my questions please......
1.How hard to change the pump?(have my own tools and pullers)
2.Is there a way to rebuild pump,ie;diaphagm or seal probably just needs changing?
3.Anyone have instuctions from the pump removed on?(what to look for or replace?)
Thanks in advance.

That same thing happened to me. I had the tranny pulled by a professional who knew what to look for. Something broke off the torque converter going into the pump, dislodged the pump which in turn fried the transmission (i do mean fried). Sounds like you lost your pump. Usually by the time you lose every gear, you've lost the tranny. I only had 15K on the rebuild. Luckily, the guy I know works on 700s and had a few built and ready. One had the vette servo, .500 tv boost valve, and a shift kit. Now it barks the tires. He charged $750 for everything including tranny, pull, install, a towing. If you lived around central illinois, i have his number somewhere.

HHMMM,
thats the thing, trans was working fine up till this happened!
Had all the gears, gears were not slipping, fluid is still clean and does not smell, there was no noises except for a slight hiss when it happened.I am sure tranny is still fine inside but i guess i have no line pressure cause fluid level does not change when engine is warmed.Anyone think this is a easy fix for a knowledgeable backyard mechanic like me?Anyone know what to look for once i get the pump out?

Thanks for your input guys.
Yesterday I took both my transmission lines off from the rad again and warmed the car good this time.Nothing in the catch pan so it is not pumping the fluid.
Can anyone confirm its the pump for me or is it something simpler I can fix in car?Just trying to determine if I should pull it or not!

I'm goning though the same thing right now! Although I didn't here any hissing noise.

Fueler, did you first lose Overdrive or did all the gears just quit at once? I too am in limbo as to whether I sould pull it, so any tips anyone could give us would be greatly appreciated. I can't stand not being able to drive my Camaro. Please Help!

RED,everything just went at once for me!What a shocker.Good thing I wasnt on the highway or something. My trans was rebuilt not too long ago.The day B4 this happened it was working perfect, hard shifts, all gears etc. Then just quit without warning! All gears neutral.Fluid is still full and super clean just like it was fresh.Guess the pump went on mine.Going to take it out and inspect.Really SUCKS!

If you can disconnect the transmission lines and no fluid comes out, then the front pump rotor is broken. The trans has to come out to fix this one.
