Tranny sometime hard to shift

MY transmission its a T5, its hard to shift, and sometimes it just glides right in, sometimes it will go half way into gear, then pop right out, just wondering what you guys thought it was, and the clutch was replaced in 2000, and hasn't had more the 5000 miles put on the car since then.

was needing to ask similar question,my T5 pops out of 5th sometimes, sometimes won't go into 5th at all,and sometimes glides right in,fluid level seems ok,and all other gears are ok,does make some noise in neutral with clutch out??are synchros on the outs???

yeah the synchros are beveled and if the bevel is worn then it pops out of gear, noise in neutral with clutch out is more likely a throw out bearing(or pilot) if it was inside the trans it'd make noise in certain gears

well since i drive 100+ miles a day i would because i use OD a lot but unless you drive many miles a day or somethin like that(use fifth a lot) then dont it will last even without fifth, it will continue to pop out but what the hell if you dont use fifth a lot dont mess with it

once i get it in 5th it stays, looking to take a 700 mile trip, and would hate to have a breakdown due to tranny,it seems to make a noise in 5th,similar to sound in neutral with clutch out,is there a way to drain tranny and replace the fluid, and with the problems should i put the dexron back in it or move to a thicker oil or go synthetic for a little more life??Thanx for all the advice!

well if it stays in i'd say its still okay for now, as for draining i'm not sure, been a while since i looked at a T5 trans, should have a drain plug in it to drain fluid but i'm not for sure, as for changing fluid i dont think i would go to synthetic just because its been run with what it has for so long i just wouldnt change the kind of fluid i would change it and go back with what it has in it as for thicker same thing stay original fluid just my 2 cents so do what you want
oh and good luck with your trip
