Does anyone make a locker for 9 bolts?

I made the mistake of heating my drag radials up on uneven surface and shattering my spider gears. I don't know how bad they are shattered, but there was little pieces of metal in the bottom of my rearend when I pulled the cover off.
I have raced the car two weekends in a row after that happened(didn't know that I had shattered my spider gears) with no noise off the line. When I got home I noticed it made a loud clanking noise when I put in reverse, so I decided to pull the cover off and there it was. Can the carrier be rebuilt or do I have to get a whole new carrier? If a new carrier would be the best way to go i would rather get a Detroit Locker or something like that, because it's not a daily driver and they are alot stronger.

I've got mini spools available along with individual pinion gears (aka spider gears), series 3 posi carriers, gear sets up to 4.10 ratio and lots of other stuff for 9 bolts. If you don't see it on the page, just ask, as the page (web site) is going through renovation this week.

I just put 3.70 gears in a week prior to the dismemberment of my carrier Is a spool just like a locker and if so what is involved in the installation. What is going to be the price on the new carrier? Everthing will be in the carrier that I need if I go that route right? Thanks for the help so far

A differential contains a number of parts. 2 of them are the side gears. These allow the carrier to rotate when turning corners since the inside wheel is turning less than the outside wheel. A mini spool replaces these side gears and locks the axles together. Now when turning a corner both wheels try to turn the same speed. Since they can't the outside wheel will slip across the ground trying to catch up. There is no differential action with a spool or mini spool. A full spool replaces the entire carrier that the ring gear attaches to and locks both axles. It's much stronger than a mini spool.

Mini spools are used primaraly for dirt track racing where tire slippage isn't a big concern.

For any street use you should be using a posi or locker type carrier. A posi still allows differential action in turns by slipping the clutches but transmits power to both wheels during straight line acceleration.

The mini spool works the same as a full spool, they positively lock the axles together. They are not recommended for street use and with either, you should run aftermarket axles.

The posi carriers I offer are complete brand new units and are $445. More info is on my page at www.9bolt.com
