What is a Corvette Torque Convertor?

Talked to a tranny builder for my 700R4 and
he said I could go with a "Corvette Converter" for
a higher stall speed (i.e. 2200) and that it
would work better than a standard size! Does
this type of TC exist? What is he talking about?

Yes it does exist. It was the converter that they put in the corvette in I think 85 or something. Its stall is rated at 2025 but many people say that they stall around 2100-2200 with decent motor.

It stalls at 2200 & Flashes at 2600. It knocked 3 tenth off my 1/4 mile time.

700R4

Thanks for the info everyone:
I'm running a stock L98 with a couple of goodies
and hope to run good when I punch the gas, or
cruise the strip. The tranny builder I contacted
will give a corvette servo/TC, high energy clutches, sun gear for $700. From what I checked in my area, they will do just a basic rebuild for 1200+ Looking forward to installing my new tranny!

I have one too, but haven't fired up the engine yet so I can't tell you how good it is. Good luck to both of us.:lala:

It is a nice upgrade and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. Mine seems to stall about 2400, but I have some monster torque too. Should work well for you. Good luck!!

Just a final note:

Sounds like all of you had good results with
the Corvette TC, however, since my L98 is bone
stock, would I even notice any benefit?
THANKS
