Centerforce Dual-Friction

What difference should I expect after putting a Centerforce DF Clutch in? Right now it feels like my clutch's slipping under a hard load (ie rpm's increase and mph doesn't).

Will it be a noticable seat of the pants improvement, or just more bite?

Thanks
KZad

Ill let you know tomorrow, when and if I get my damn car back. The pedal will be much softer than your stock clutch, and the DF clutch should hit harder when you want it to.

I basically had the same question. My stock clutch makes a funny noise as i hit the gears hard, and i was wondering if my car maybe overpowering it. Also what are stock clutches rated for. I have a similar problem to yours where it feels like the RPM'S are talking off, but the car isnt going as fast as it should.

Yeah, I'll find out tomorrow when I finish the install. I will let you know how it comes out.

If you dont mind me asking, what are you paying for the install. I got the Clutch, Pressure Plate and T/O Bearings for around $310. Last time blew a clutch (my old car, 85 2.8) I paid a little over $500 with install ... AND IT WAS A STOCK REPLACEMENT.

By doing the install myself ... I saved $190, upgraded to performance, and learned how the whole thing worked.

How difficult is it to do on your own?? I dont have access to a lift so i would have to jack the car up, and secondly, how bad was the clutch slippin for you Kzad?? and how old was your clutch. I did a whole conversion for auto to manual, so this is all new to me, but i had the manual installed in January, but as i mentioned, i get a funny noise coming from the tranny area when i get on it hard in 1st and 2nd, so i'm wondering if i'm overpowering the stock clutch. But please let me know how the centerforce works and if you get any better results from it.

I put mine is 2 weeks ago and love it. It's smoother than the stock clutch and does grab harder when I want it too. Even the shifter feels more positive.

It's a fairly easy install, the hardest part is putting the trans back up and sliding the input shaft in. I just bench press it up and stab it since it's only about 70 lbs.

Word of wisdom, get the car as high as you can. You want all the room you can get.

Not as good of a difference if you put a McLeod clutch in there instead... Centerforce is junk in my opinion. Do a search on this board and you'll find out why.

Pretty easy install ... IF YOU ELEVATE THE CAR. I did mine in a pit, same idea.

Had to drop the drive shaft, tranny, and bel-housing.

Like 87 said, the hardest part was putting the trans back in. Wouldnt go all the way in, had about a half inch to go (all 9 times we tried!) then just ended up using the bolts to pull it in.

Oh, and I took off the Shifter so it would go up easier. After we got it all put together I took out the center console to fill the tranny with fluid and put the shifter back in.

All in all it was about 4-6 hours work. I spent 2 days (one tearing down, and one putting together ... because the parts were not in on time), after all was said and done, but also did some other minor stuff while I had the chance.

Hope it helped.

Sounds good, helps me out for when i do it, but next question is, did you drive the car yet with the new clutch and if so and when you do let me know how it feels and what type of improvement it is. Like i said, i'm wondering how weak the stock one is and if i maybe overpowering it because it makes a funny noise when i get on it, but its only like 4 months old. Again thanks for the info.
