same problem
i actually had the same problem last sunday,i lost third and fourth and it would barley shift into 2nd.i put up a post and people told me it was my 3-4 gear pack.but i got it fixed and it was the governor.it regulates the psi of the trans fluid at different speeds of vehickle travel.anyways,it cost me just over $200 to fix at the tranny shop and thats with taxes,oh...and that is canadian too.so it will probably be about $9.99 american!!!

I have been messing around with the governor weights, trying to adjust WOT shift points. I put a rebuilt Delco governor in & had similar problems. Mine would not downshift into 1st at stops & the WOT 2-3 shift won't happen. I swapped it with another governor I had & now it works well.

Don't go with the bm kit use a transgo. I'm serious I have a bm stage 2 kit and it's a pos in my opinion. They have you drill a hole and that can make the trannie wear out. Just use a transgo it has additional parts not in the bm kit thats why it's higher priced.
