Exhaust help...thanks

Well, I kinda got high-centered the other day (don't ask) and my exhaust mount that attaches the CC to something hangin off the tranny (I think...can't remember right now and I don't have pictures) broke. It's a rubber piece. I went to an exhaust shop (only tried one so far) and the guy was like "Yah, we can't weld that up, you're going to have to get another one of them rubber pieces" so if anyone either A) has the part number or B) has a spare one......let me know.

Yeah, there's a bracket off the passenger side of the trans that holds the catalytic convertor hanger. The same bolts hold the torque arm bracket on... except the torque arm mount is on the driver's side. The bolts are wedged up in the trans tunnel; you have to drop the crossmember, and lower the trans downward to be able to slide the bolts out of the trans.

My hanger ripped a few years ago, and I haven't lost my exhaust... uh, did you try to adapt a universal tailpipe hanger to the spot? They look like a muffler clamp, but have a piece of metal strap coming off the back, which goes to the car body. Maybe you can fab something up...

I'd say just weld a metal bracket from the part attaching the rubber piece to the bracket on the tranny.

I figured that work.

The actual rubber piece itself isn't removeable though? ****, I'll just take a coathanger and do something if I can't get it right....I'm not afraid of losing my exhaust...it's just hanging so low that I scrape everything.

I believe the rubber (or leather?) is riveted to the bracket. So you could drill out the rivets; but you'd have to get a drill up there... like I said, I'm not sure, my exhaust isn't hanging, so I haven't bothered to fix it! Double check the tightness of the y-pipe to the manifolds; the y-pipe (at the manifolds) can act like a hinge. The y-pipe can swivel downward, making the cat lower.

Don't think I'm too cool; this is my work computer. At home I've got a P233, 64MB ram, 6G HD. I just added a CDRW to it.

And in the mail is a FIC VC15 mainboard, Pentium 4 1.6 Ghz, 256 MB DDR ram, 40 gig HD, Pentium 4-compatible P/S, and a secondary case fan. Not bad for $420!

Just gotta get the woman a ring; then I can buy my laptop.

hey ovrclk350, NAPA sells a whole adapter for like $8. It has been the biggest PITA project I have EVER done though, but since yours already ripped off, you shouldn't have a problem.

You see, on mine, some dumba$s cut the metal off, just the metal, wtf?, I had the best time in my lfe trying to get a mini hack up in there to cut cut theat biatch off. Also the screw that mounted to the tranny was stripped and the was no way in he11 I was getting it off. I lyed under that car for two hours trying to get that thing off. Its amazing on how many four letter words you can come up with.

I don't know why something that would sound so easy to do, just had to become so friggin hard, but oh well, I got it fixed, my exhuast don't rattle no more, just is loud from the leak at the cat, i bet half of the exhuast is coming at before the cat. I really need to buy a band strap and take the cat off and seal it with sealer the right way some day (well i need to do it quickley cuase i have everbodies favorite time of the year coming up in July, the dreaded emmissions test, gotta pass that
