I'm Passing Tips about AC Compressor failure Rock on John Entwhistle of THE WHO!!!

What I've learned to day.

John Entwhistle of THE WHO
Died in Las Vegas, Noon, today 6/27/02.
John Entwhislte died of (so far) natural heart (had history of troubles) failure at 57, on the eve of the start of the 2002 THE WHO Summer Tour. Was to start in Las Vegas Friday night.
I was to see them perform Monday night July 1 at the Hollywood Bowl. I last saw them at the Hollywood Bowl in Aug 14 of 2000
It once was
THE WHO
The Rolling Stones
The Beatles
Long Live Rock.
He's jamming with Keith doing "Boris the Spider"

My Orifice Filter has SO MUCH debris.
I was instructed to have my lines flushed out.
Or else crap out again!
I have my newly rebuilt compressor, with oil already in it.
I understand MOST OTC compressors arrive to us this way (prefilled).
I am replacing the dryer/accumalator.
I was instructed to add 2 oz of MINERAL OIL for R-12 AC systems to the dryer before sealing of the connections.
Obviously, one replaces the o-rings. Lube them in the oil before attaching connections.
Dryer, o rings fluids (oil!), orifice filter, under $100

The only replacement I can do, so far is just the compressor.
I have to travel to have the lines flushed out.
My AC lines are taped over now. I am not replacing the dryer or the Orifice tube, until those lines are flushed. Those items take seconds to install.
ONE DOES NOT want ANY MORE DIRT OR ANY DIRT in the AC lines.
Hope this provides tips.

Those LARGE NUTS?
Try 19mm
24mm
17mm
Easy nuts to crack open (Be nice now...!!), as they are not very tight or if too tight, the seal is damaged.

Since you gotta charge the A/C now, why don't ya look into one of those kits to convert to R134-A. Much much cheaper than R-12. Most auto parts stores sell conversion kits for around $40. Gets you the fittings, go right on your existing ones, can of oil so your seals wont be ruined by the new refrigerant, and a can of refrigerant. Additional cans are less than $10.

I did this swap 3 years ago, still works good. Except my blower doesn't work on high, but it hasn't since I bought the car.

There is a seperate relay for the "high" setting on the blower. Maybe that's bad?

First....
I am seeing THE WHO PERFORM MONDAY NIGHT AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL.
They are performing a very special concert. The FIRST after their friends death of natural causes.
Funny, I started seeing the WHO perform after Keith's death, also.
It will be a somber and celebratory performance.
I am front row of the third level. I bought my ticket before his passing......

NOW

The 134 stuff.
I have very inexpensive connections for R-12.
I got the rebuilt compressor on, I have yet to add the dryer.
Upon removing the orifice in line filter, I was told flush lines.
Monday I am.
I also had to install a new fan blower motor (David, ya cursed me!!!!)
But I have 3 fan speeds & MONDO WIND!!!
So much dust & dirt came outta vents I was coughing!!
Now all fittings are taped and ready for final procedure.

LONG LIVE THE WHO!!!!!!
I keep telling my Wife, this is the last "concert" I go to.
She finally understands what I mean by that.....

I want to see, finally, the Rolling Stones....
Wish they just did a concert not a show.

Never imagined after almost forty years since those bands broke onto the American music scene...
I'll have seen performances by
The Beatles (saw Paul just a few weeks ago)
The Who RIP John & Keith
Later on The Rolling Stones (Keith is still alive????)
In one year.

hey, would a problem with that high setting relay cause a problem, like my low and medium a/c settings work (might be needing a recharge soon, but they work), but the high setting puts out less air than the medium? could these things be related?

I think the high blower speed relay is located on the right rear of the engine compartment. It is mounted on a bracket nezxt to the blower motor and AC condenser

Start shopping for a replacement motor.
I replaced my motor after it was flaky & then nonoperational.
Replace motor.
Easier than searching for that relay, which is fine.
