^%@!)(*#&^!*&$q(!#(^()(_*^%$ Car!

Well if any of you heard the sweet sounds of a third gen being cursed on the wind today. It was me.

Got my cat-back today(took like 3 days to get here if that!) but I deceided hell I got till next thursday before I really need to drive it so I'll go ahead and put it on.

Well the cat-back went on with little trouble... Then I got to thinkin, well hell I should have the other exhaust parts on monday, so I will go ahead and put on those headers... Well... the Cat and Y pipe came out pretty easy actually. The drivers side manifold bolts cameout with no trouble at all(Except the one on that damn P/S Bracket) Still have to get that one... But moving on...
Passanger side manifold... Woo nilly... 3 come out no probs, just have to remove the alternator, and Air pump(which I am getting rid of for what litte gain it is). Well that leaves 3... 1 was on the way out and coming nicely, then SNAP...(about the 5th ranting took place) well hell... move on. I notice the manifold is decisively easier to move... hmm the 2 on the back side were already sheared...(thats when the 6-7-8-9 ranting took place) as I was yanking the manifold out of the engine bay...

So I pose a question... How can I remove these(theres ALOT of thread sticking out) without shearing them in the head.... I already soaked in PB(great stuff)...

Grab them with a vice grip and turn and just soak them in allot of wd-40 or anything like that they will come out.

PB Blast & vise grips worked good for me when I pulled the 2.8 heads. All came out on one side, & peices came out on the other.

Tightest grip with vice grip and some heat.
Good luck.
They SHOULD come out easy.
How about trying from below?
Or raising the engine a bit for better access?

ok I got those two out and actually got the passanger side hedman on.. Woo hoo... Now has anyone ever gotten the hedmans to fit a manual? cause this drivers side is hitting every possible thing it can, and even inventing a few things.... I aqlready hit in a primary a little so it could clear the motor mount....
But it just refused to drop 1" so it can slide right into place. I have already lossened the wiper motor, that gave me 1/2" but now I am outta room... It hits the slave Cylinder BAD so I am thinking these were NOT meant for a manual car...

Oh I also forgot to mention that I removed my air pump and if anyone wants to remove it I have the diamgram and belt length info...

79" Belt. Crank to alt to tensioner, to water pump to A/C to P/S to crank. Everything but the water pump turns in the same direction.

Actually yes they fit.. I finally got 1 bolt in and the rest almost lined up.

However.. You NEED to do some "Structural Redesign" on both parties involved. Header, hit the inside collector in 'bout 3/8-1/2", and the GM side, know that 360 ring for the slave bolt up?, make it a 250 approx. basically cut/break beside each side about 1/4" past the bolt holes. HAVE FUN!!!ITS NOT AN EASY INSTALL BY ANY MEANS. To those that are getting my type headers... WOO YOU HAVE IT EASY I TELL YA.

Well hopefully tomarrow I will have the system done and running.. And let me say I cannot wait to hear that catless MPITA header dynomax monster fire!.

I feel your pain on the manifold bolts.
The two rear ones on the passenger side of my car are already gone. It was like it when I bought the car .
The exhaust has a slight leak when you first start the car but goes away when the manifold gets hot . I'm going to pull the engine sometime this summer and fix it , and also add a HP cam and new valve seals.
