Stupid Lifter

Ok I just changed my PCV valve and leaning over the driver's side of the engine I hear a clicking sound.. sounds like its coming from just under or near the intake.. I'm guessing its a lifter... my dad gave me a little of this seafoam stuff I poured in the oil.. says on the bottle that it frees stuck lifters.. drove around for a few miles and it still clicks.. what do I do?.. it isn't a very loud clicking.. you gotta lean over near it to hear it.. I thought about taking the manifold off to change the lifter.. but it looks like a lot to do.. could I do this in a weekend?

Oh and I have new plugs and wires/dist cap/rotor.. etc.. so its none of those if you guys are thinking that...

Wow, that's so funny that you posted that!! I just changed my PCV valve the other day as well with the same effect!!!!! I let my dad listen to the noise, and we couldn't conclude what it was. We thought maybe water pump, but no sure answer. The car runs great, no problems at all! Actually ran better with the new PCV valve and an oil change and grease job. And all guages read fine, and no computer codes...... so perhaps it is like KJ mentioned...... perhaps it's standard GM engine clicking, becuase it started happening for me right after that as well!!

I don't know.. doesn't sound normal and i'm pretty sure it wasn't around before.. I don't like to say "this is standard".. a friend of mine had an manual talon.. and when he shifted gears the car would shake for a few seconds.. I was never in a manual before I would usually say "I don't think its supposed to do that".. I think he said it was fine the first few times but he dumped a few months later because the tranny really was going out... so.. i'm just thinking i'd like to fix this here and now while its still going before it causes something major to bite the dust... (btw my friend dumped that talon for a WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better car IMHO)

a sparkplug or sparkplugs can make a cliking sound when they are loose . Don't overtighten them , but just make sure there are no loose ones . It could also be your injectors ticking . My old ones ticked , and now my new ones tick . I know its them because I listened to them with a stethascope .

a plugwire that is not good and snug on the sparkplug can also cause a clicking sound .

There is no need for unnecessary work because lifter noise is very common and won't affect your engine.
