It's Driving Me Crazyyyyyyyyyyyy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok guys , I am totally dumb when it comes to this code thing . Mine works I can follow it when the sequence some , but then I get totally lost and dont know if its repeating the 12 thing again or now . . I HAVE to get this car fixed before Mon because thats when I start driving it to school . IM not going to put it in the shop because thats just a complete waste of time , they never find out whats wrong with it , or it does not act up for them .Here's what its doing again , It's been doing this for prabably 2 months now . When I take off , it hesitates real bad and kinda backfires a little , not loud , but noticable . Last time it was in the shop a fuel gauge was put on it and the fuel pressure was fine . Everything ignition wise is good , i just put on anothe fuel pressure regulator , my old one broke in two pieces when I took it off , the one I have now , when I took it off the other car it stayed in once piece .The timing was also set on the car the last time it was in the shop . I just unpluged my mass airflow sensor , it still acted up so I dont think its that , but Im about to go test it with my tester . Would my fuel relay make my car act up like this ? This car is driving me crazy , it has not run good in two months .

What was the timing set to?? Also a backfire, If I rem right is due to a valve not being closed, or to little of back pressure. IMO, its timing or the valves not being set right. But I'm not an expert on engines.

easiet thing to look at is that your timing is too far advanced

is the car also hard to start?

did you ever replace your MAF?

if your multi-meter has a frequency setting, you can actually test your MAF?

could be that your fuel pump relay is gone and your running off your oil pressure switch, but i DOUBT that

I brought the old MAF sensor in to show Dad what it was . He does not know much about cars . Before I got to him with it , he said "what is that a beer can holder ? If you ever take yours out , if you turn it on its side , it looks like a cup holder !

yeah, reason i figured it must just be dirty was because:

one day in work, i put a new alternator in a buick
after i finished the car ran like crap, but i couldnt remember what i ran like before i put the alt in (i drive too many cars in one day and i didnt think i put in a bad alt)

so the service advisor says, pull the MAF and look at it

sure enough, the wire inside was filthy

i cleaned it with brake clean and the dried it with my blow gun

put the car back together and it ran perfect........makes me glad niether of my cars have a MAF

I remeber my car threw the MAF code, and I was like oh no!
After calling several places I decided to pull it, noticed it had some grim on it and clean it. Put it back in reset computer, and the car ran perfect again.

The MAF is such an annoying sensor though. It causes way to many problems.

Well , I just knew you were right about it being dirty after I cleaned it . I cleaned it with some break cleaner on q-tips . The tips were dirty when I got through , so then I figured , I fixed it , I know thats what it was , it was just real dirty . But , that didnt fix it , it just died on me .

Could have even been because I pulled the MAF screen out last year when I got the new motor . This time I left the screen in .

I wish they would make an aftermarket performance one for our cars , then I could have had a good excuse to get one !
