turbocharger
turbocharger
WTF! You wouldn't believe what I saw this weekend. A Dodge Neon 4 cylinder with a complete factory-look turbocharger on it. And it worked quite nicely. What a sleeper! You'd think if some company's willing to spend the r & d on a turbocharger for a 4 cyl. Neon, they'd have a complete line of mods for our cars. Where's the justice?
I see where your coming from however , people are not flocking to buy 3rd gen camaros and supercharge them . Neons are newer cars , and you have to remember what the new craze is , clear tail lights and exhaust tips that are bigger than garbage cans . I dont necessarly like it , but we have to face the facts here .

yeh, newer cars rice or american rice (doesn't really matter) the craze is definately turbo or supercharging it. the models of our cars that were equipped with superchargers not factory but still, they were v8 model cars. It's difficult to achieve a lot of power out of our little motors, so.....I'd say i like the fafctory options for our cars, larger powerplants, but ..... i wish ya the best of luckwith whatever u wanna do.

I think it really comes down to money though, and who's willing to fork it over. Assumin that the average turbo setup costs $3-5K, that's more than most of us paid for our cars. I'm sorry, but I'm not gonna put that kind of money into a car that I bought because it was cheap. I think most people that own v-6 thirdgens feel the same way. So for an aftermarket company to spend all the time and money to make a kit for our cars would probably not yeild any profits.
I read somewhere that the PT CRUISER was originaly built on a NEON chassis - So a lot of the stuff made for the CRUISER would work on the NEON. (& u know how far off the deep end the Cruiser Guys have gone)

I heard the same thing (chassis & engine), too. Hehe, I saw a PT Cruiser earlier today, in the light mist of rain that jersey's getting, the lady had her wipers on "super ultra fast".
Weren't they supposed to come out with a hot motor for the PT cruiser, and give it another name?

In I think it's the current issue of hotrod, there's a little article on this blown PT Cruiser. I think the owner did an engine swap tho too. It's got a huge spoiler on the back (although I think it may actually be functional). It was running like 10s or something.
