How much does a V6 and T5 tranny weigh?

Anyone know how much a V6 and a T5 weigh? I am in the process of pulling mine out of my 92 RS, and I am worried about the engine leveler not being able to handle the both of them together.

Is the engine leveler rated for a weight? My friend and I lifted his 2.8 block up without much effort at all; it's just a bulky thing to grab. I've picked my transmission up before, too, it's not heavy (aluminum case). Granted, I had all the fluid drained out of the trans when I did that, but still, I doubt it'd weigh more than an extra 20 pounds with the fluid in. If you're that worried about it, just separate the engine from the trans... that's what I did on the swap I worked on. http://www.geocities.com/tomp_3rdgen

The leveler is rated for 1250 pounds.
Also from what everyone has told me, it is much easier to take out the engine and trans as a single unit. Well, atleast that is what the Haynes manual says.
I guess I am a little nervous since this is the first time I have ever pulled an engine and trans out of a car as a whole unit.

Wish me luck!

Yeah, 80 lbs sounds right for a T5 with the bellhousing.

Plus, I was able to lift a bare 3.4L block off the ground, so it couldn't have weighed much more that 100 lbs.

Total weight....my guess would be 275-325 lbs total.

Hell ya I will sell the T5, but I got to warn you, it had a little bit of a ratle in it when in neutral idling. Other than that I was driving the car around just fine until I started taking stuff out.

Do you need the engine as well? It runs great, has alot of pep. Of course it is in the process of coming out of the car.

How far are you from Nashville TN?

If you want to come and pick it up, it would be alot cheaper than shipping it. I will sell you both the engine and trans for $200. Sound good?
Let me know. Also I can take some pics of the engine and trans and post them. (still in the car though.)

Let me know.

i'll have to discuss it with my dad further, but i am seriously considering it. i wanna build a crazy v6/5speed combo but am lacking funds. it sounds like a good deal. i live in warner robins, GA which is about 6 hours south of you.

I will try to get some pics of the engine and trans on here today or tomorrow.
That 3.1 V6 would make one hell of a screamer witht he right mods.
Tell you what, if it would be easier on you, I will deliver the engine and trans to you for an extra $65. (That should cover my gas costs). I am in no real rush, so if you need a few weeks to decide that would be fine with me, just let me know. I would really love to sell it to someone that would use it and have fun with it. Also I would love to see your project when it is completed.

Tell dad it is an earlier Christmas present.

Here we go, this is a pic of the engine as it currently sits in the car. Hopefully by next weekend I will have it all out. I will take more pics then.

(I hope this works)

McKay Racing-i am sorry to tell you this but i feel like i need to say no right now on the motor and tranny. nothing would make me happier then to buy this setup from you but i just truly need to take a break from "suping up" my ride. i have been working day in and day out for the last 5 months getting the thing back together. it's got a brand new 2.8 bored .040 over in it that has only 360 miles on it. i have to replace the water pump tomorrow and do a little figuring on my transmission right now. the 700r4 thats in it has a transgo shift kit. i need to pay my dad off before i go and buy anymore hot rod parts. my birthday is tuesday and i will be 18. with my birthday money i am going to do some sound system upgrades next. i am just kinda drained of working on the motor. if you would like to keep the motor and sell it later on, like around next summer, i would be happy to buy it then. i just don't think it is feasible right now. my dad's 85 is fixing to be put in the garage for the winter so that we can pull the rear and put the new 9" in it before next racing season. i have no space to put a motor, let alone one that is totally apart. when i do buy a new 60* v6 the plan is for it to be atleast a 3.1 if not a 3.4 i am going to bore it .060 over with a .460 lift cam and head work and intake work. get a set of headers made and then seriously look into a custom forced induction system. i know that it sounds like i am just blowing steam, but i really wanna do this. supercharged seems to be the best way without having to change exhaust routing....we'll see what appens, i suppose.....

Well I wsh you the best of luck on your project, but unfortunatly I cannot wait until next summer. I have another interested buyer for both the engine and tranny, so I will probably sell the pair to him. I appreciated the interest though.
I have been in the money pit plenty of times when it comes to projects. Hell I still have a 50 Chevy that I have been tinkering with for the past 3 years. I swear I will be 40 before I can finish it.
Oh well, happy early birthday!
