i put another 2.8 into a frind of mines 87 firebird, (the engine that was in it had a rod knock). after i put a new engine in it, started it and it idled fine. but it has no power, i can't get the car over 20 mph, and won't make it up a hill. i know the cat isn't a problem because 1st it worked before and 2nd it has a exhaust leak between the manifold and y pipe. the TPS is good, MAF is good, it has all new plugs and wires, cap and rotor, new plenum and runner gaskets. i can't seem to figure out what's wrong with it. i checked all vacuum lines, and their locations. that's all fine. is there anything i'm forgetting to check? please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

you did remember to reintall the 3 torque convertor bolts right j/k

did you mess any w/the tv cable?

 

Timing set properly?

 

Check the trans fluid.

 

no, i checked the timing and it's perfect.... trans fluid reads full hot, after the car's been running a while. i can't seem to solve this problem..... is there anything i'm forgetting???????????????

 

Fuel pressure maybe?
